QUESTION

ANSWER

Will the Post Office have any problem delivering envelopes with artistic addressing on them? We have yet to have anyone complain about our envelopes being non-deliverable.  However, to ease the mind of our clients, we kindly direct them to check out a contest that is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers and The Washington Calligraphers Guild.  This competition is called the "Graceful Envelope Contest".  Here you will find  some elaborately addressed envelopes that the Post Office does not seem have any problem delivering.  See some of the wonderful submissions here --> http://www.calligraphersguild.org
How long does it take to complete an order and can orders be rushed? Generally, the turn around time for an average size order of about 100-150 envelopes (inner and outer) is 2 weeks.  Some orders can be done quicker, but it mostly depends upon our schedule at the time.  Rush orders can be accepted if our schedule permits.  These will incur a 25% rush charge.
Can you match the typeface and colors of my invitation? Typestyle and color matching are our specialty.  If you can send us a scanned image or direct us to a website where we can see your invitation, we can come up with a few addressing ideas for you.  It is a good idea to include a color swatch of some sort with your envelopes of the color you would like us to match.
How do I go about placing an order for your services and will you give me some design ideas prior to placing an order?  If so, how much will it cost. Sending us an e-mail is the best place to start.  Let us know what you are looking for and how soon you will need it.  We will get back to you as soon as possible to discuss options and procedures to get the ball rolling.  As stated above, we would be happy to create some design ideas for you.  For envelope addressing, place cards and Table signs, there is no charge for this service.  There is a one-time $25 design charge for programs and menu designs.
I live in your area, can I stop by to see some samples and to drop off my envelopes? Our studio operates at irregular hours and it is not open to the general public.  But we can still certainly set up an appointment for you to stop by.
What equipment and software do you use to provide your services? We use graphic design programs and various types of commercial grade printers, plotters and cutters for our services.  More specific information than that is not available.
Can I provide pre-cut place cards for you to print on? We can print on most pre-cut place cards provided that they are at least 3" in any direction and/or they are not an irregular die cut shape.  Any Place cards that are made of metallic, glossy, translucent or darkly colored paper will need to be tested prior to accepting your order.
How do you handle any errors or additional addresses that need to be done after I have already received my initial order back from you ? If possible, we generally keep a few blank envelope sets (about 5% of the total order) for any corrections or additions.  If the mistake is ours, we will fix the error and mail it at no charge to you.  If the mistake is yours, we will make the correction at the same rate as your original order plus return shipping.

What if I have additional addresses or changes to existing ones that need to be done while you are still working on them?

Making up the additions while we are still working on them is not a problem provided that we have enough envelopes to do so.  If we have already made up the one that has a correction, you will be charged for both envelopes.  Both envelopes will be included  in your return shipment (the incorrect one will be flagged).  For either additions or corrections, we ask that you do NOT send us an entire updated address list, but rather just list the additions / corrections within an e-mail and we will make the changes manually ourselves.
Can you give me the file or the name of a typestyle that appears on your site? We do not give out the names or files of the typestyles we use.  I know this sounds harsh, but our collection of typefaces is an on going, painstaking process which is also a business investment since the majority of them are purchased.  Obviously this would be counter productive to our business to just give them away, so we thank you for not asking and for your understanding.

Are my envelopes too thick or too big to be printed on?

A good test to see if your envelopes are too thick is to see if they will feed through a regular inkjet printer.  If they do not, we probably cannot address them.  Envelopes cannot be any larger than 8½" X 11".  Most envelope thickness is due to a liner.  If you have your heart set on a particular envelope liner that is very thick, we suggest asking your stationer if you can get the liners separate, where you can insert and glue them in yourself, or we can do it for you at a minimal charge after the addressing is completed.
Can you print on dark, metallic or translucent envelopes? Most times we can print on these envelopes provided that they have a square flap.  It is always best though, to send us a questionable envelope to test if time permits.  See our envelope considerations page for more information on this topic.
My envelopes have a button and string closure, can you address these? Any envelopes with a button and string closure cannot be addressed by us.  We would suggest going with fancy wrap label for these.

Can you print on Envelopment pochettes (or another brand)?

If the Envelopment pochettes are no thicker than 80 lbs. we can print on those.  But we cannot do any that are made in metallic, translucent or dark colored paper.  As far as other brands of Pochettes, we recommend sending us a sample to test.
To save time, can I have my envelopes shipped directly to you from the stationer? We do accept envelopes directly from stationers, but we do not take the responsibility of completed orders done on envelopes that have an incorrect return address or graphics printed by the stationer.
If I decide NOT to use an inside envelope, how do you let a single guest know they can bring a guest?
You may wish to extend an invitation to a single guest to bring a guest of their own. Whether you choose to or not is entirely up to you, but outside envelopes should not say "and Guest".  This should be printed on the inside envelope.  Should no inside envelope be used, and you know that a particular single guest would like to bring someone, it is advisable to take the time to find out the guest's name. We realize that getting this information can be somewhat tedious, so here are some creative alternatives to using "and Guest" on the outer envelope:
  • Pre-fill-in the RSVP card with the guests name along with the words "and Guest"
  • Bundle your invitation and contents with a ribbon and tag or a belly belt that has the guest name on it with the words "and Guest" prior to placing it into your outer envelope.

These suggestions can also be applied to the "and Family" scenario.  Lastly.... since we are not the addressing police and if you absolutely want to have "and Guest"  or "and Family" on the outer envelope, we will advise of alternatives, but you, the client has the last word... if you want it, we will do it.

How many extra envelopes should I order from my stationer? A good rule of thumb is to order at least 20% more envelopes than the number of addresses on your list.  This should cover any corrections or additions you may have.  It is a good idea to initially send us all of your envelopes so that we do not fall short should we run into any problems or if you have any additions while we are still working on them.
Should you have any other questions that you cannot find the answer to here, please feel free to contact us at your convenience and we will do our best to get back to you as quickly as possible.
