What
exactly is the difference between an "Escort" and a
"Place" Card?
Although
"Place Card" is the terminology most commonly used for both,
there is a difference between the two and surprisingly, most of the
time it is used incorrectly.
-
Escort
Cards are
placed on a main table at a centralized location, primarily at or
near the entrance of a reception, where guests can easily access
them. Printed on each card is the the guest's name and their
table assignment. These cards are normally arranged on the
reception table in alphabetical order by last name so that the
guest can easily find their seating assignment.
-
Place
Cards are very similar to escort cards in appearance but they
do not contain table assignment information on them. The
guest's name is primarily the only information printed on place
cards and they are placed directly at the guest's assigned place
setting. Place cards can be used along with escort cards
when specific seating assignments are desired. Place cards can be
used alone, without Escort cards, when the gathering is rather
small and guests can easily find their seats or when a Seating
Chart is used in place of escort cards.
Now
that we have cleared that up... whatever you prefer to call them is
fine with us, but for ordering purposes we like to make the
distinction just so we are sure you are getting what you need.
